Ricki Heck – NID Director District I
I have been honored to serve as your Division I Director of NID the last four years. I have been a leader for meaningful, positive changes at NID and would like to continue my work. As a businesswoman with over 30 years’ experience, I have a unique perspective of NID’s finances, budgets, and organization. During my first term I:
Helped implement innovative programs to care for our watershed with actions like forest thinning, meadow restoration, and fuel load reduction. These actions will yield a more sustainable and resilient water supply in the face of a changing climate.
Ensured greater financial accountability and helped create a healthier organization. A complete overhaul of NID’s financial and budget process is nearing completion.
Worked to clean up an administrative nightmare at NID and guide the organization through recruiting and hiring a new General Manager.
Increased transparency at NID by ensuring all interested groups- environmental, farmer, business, and construction- have a seat at the table and their voices are heard.
Insisted NID used the best science and data driven information as the basis for its decision-making process, including the Plan for Water.
As your representative if re-elected I will:
Protect our watershed.
Insist on a fiscally conservative budget.
Demand support for our local farms and ranches.
Work to fireproof NID’s aging infrastructure.
Extend water lines to neighborhoods where there are none, providing treated water and fire hydrants.
Service constituent calls and answer your questions promptly and in person.
I am proud to have the enthusiastic endorsement of Nancy Weber, 20-year NID Director, retired;
Current NID Directors Karen Hull, Chris Bierwagen, and Rich Johanson;
Supervisors Heidi Hall, Susan Hoek and Hardy Bullock;
Local farmers Tim Van Wagner and Aleta Barrett;
Community leaders Lisa Swarthout, Doug Flemming, Bob Branstrom, Dr. Roger Hicks, John Volz, Terry McAteer, Mike Snegg and many others.
